Shelf & Wine

Three women, three shelves, one shared bottle. We read revenge plots, werewolves and cowboys who get exactly what is coming to them, and we write down the ones worth the lost sleep.

We are readers first and we are loud about it. Between us we get through four or five books a week, mostly after nine at night, mostly with the lamp on and the phone face down.

One honest disclosure before you take a single note here seriously: all three of us also edit at Hoshitale, a serial romance publisher. So when we like one of their books we are biased and we say so. When we do not, we say that too.

What belongs here: the chapter that made us put the kettle on, the ending that earned the tears, the hero who grovelled properly, the wife who took her life back. What does not: star ratings out of five, reading challenges, and anyone who says "unputdownable".

Nora Columbus, Ohio · dispatch desk, nights

Reads revenge and second chances. Notices timestamps, paperwork, the exact hour someone stopped trying. Dry about it.

Mae Minneapolis, Minnesota · vet reception

Reads werewolf romance and rejected mates. Warm, wry, always has a dog in the room. Asks questions back.

Josie Sheridan, Wyoming · feed store books

Reads cowboys and small towns. Blunt, practical, keeps her ledger tidy. No perfume in the prose.
